Regular readers almost certainly are aware that we live on top of a mountain. With very few full-time neighbours, but loads of little weekend cottages dotted about – most of which are only occupied on “high days and holidays”, as they say.
We like this. And are well used to it. In fact, one of the reasons we purchased this farm is because it is not too close to town. And (at that time anyway) with no permanent residents nearby. (That has changed over the past few years – we now have a couple of neighbours, but it’s manageable)
But I digress. We like the space, the lack of man-made noise, the quiet of nature. You get it, right?
But this weekend, things have gone a bit too far! We are having one of our usual hideous weather spells – rain and wind, along with mist so heavy we can’t even see the herb garden in front of the house! During these times, we feel like we’re the only people on earth.
Add to that a total lack of internet connection, and almost zero cell phone coverage, and the isolation is complete! Spooky.
