Out and about

For a variety of reasons, it has been absolutely ages since we went out into town. In the ‘old days’ we would usually meet Kenton’s folks on a Friday for a couple of beers, go out Saturday night on our own, and perhaps go to lunch on a Sunday.

Well, things have changed. The poor performance of the pound over the last year meant that our income in sterling was hit hard (30% – no laughing matter!). So outings have been curtailed.

The hideous weather over the winter meant that we couldn’t go out without getting wet and/or muddy. The dog run was flooded on a daily basis, so it was difficult to leave the dogs behind.

Well, no more! The weather seems to be ever so slowly improving. The sun seems to be staying around occasionally! So today, we decided to go out for tapas in town.

Our usual routine from last year was to go to “Bar la peña” – the flamenco bar in town – for a couple of beers, then go to Bar Izquierda (“bar on the left”) for tapas. Then finish at our usual Bar Miguelin for coffee.

So that’s what we did. Wandered around town for a bit, talked to friends, had a bite to eat. Everyone asked where we had been, using the usual “pensamos que fue perdido”, meaning “we thought you were lost”.

It was lovely, and nice to be missed!
