…the prodigal returns

Back where we came from, reluctant returnees.

It never rains but it pours!

Those who regularly read my blog will know that it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing on our mountain recently! As my husband said this morning, in any situation if something could go wrong, it has!

It’s kind of been one thing after another. For example, it rains so much that the track is impossible for anything other than our Defender. It is so windy that the guttering blows off. The dog gets ‘wet dermititis’ on his head, and it won’t heal.

And then there’s the power system. Don’t get me started! One battery set has some dicky cells, so they don’t charge properly. We (eventually) get a second set – then ditto. We finally get a brand-new replacement set this morning …. delivered on a day where it is raining so hard that you can’t see beyond the terrace. They are too heavy for the 2 of us to lift, so our wonderful friend Jonathan braves the rain to lend a hand.

And our wind turbine? We replaced the bushings 2 weeks ago, and it worked splendidly. Then yesterday morning? It started to vibrate badly, meaning that something has likely come loose. So down it must come … again… but then again – there is that hideous weather forecast of a whole week of rain!

If I believed in kismet, religion, karma or whatever your brand of belief is, I’d begin to wonder what I’d done wrong. But I don’t – so I’ll just keep smiling and know that the corner will be turned soon!
