Olive harvest, day 5

You’ll note that the ‘harvest’ blogs don’t occur every day! Probably not surprising – I usually finish up the day not caring what happens in my world, much less the www!

It’s been a very, very hard week. But very worthwhile. As of tonight, we have plenty for a good pressing – give us a few more days of picking, and we will have a huge, fabulous press! Like, 900 kilos worth! (US friends – a kilo is 2.2 pounds, I am too tired to do the math!)

If not for the hail in September, we would have had our best crop ever. As it is, at the very least we will have a huge first press, with great olives. Any luck, after Christmas, another press – or at least sell enough olives to pay for the pressing!

And we get all the fresh air, clean water, exercise and food you could ever want. Not a bad trade for the sore muscles!
