Summer in October

From what I’ve heard, there is a lot of “Indian summer” going around! That is certainly the case here – all of October it seems to just be getting warmer and warmer!

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the warm, sunny weather, blue skies, etc. But even I have to admit that it isn’t normal. By now, we should be having at least some rainy, cool days. Everyone in town worries that we will have a dry winter – always a worry in agricultural areas, especially in Spain, where from June-September there is no rain at all.

We have finished our usual October chores, despite the heat. We’ve picked chestnuts and walnuts, weeded the potato patch, and so on – sweating the whole time! Usually we have at least one or two days of rainy, damp weather while we’re picking, but not this year!

Anyway, I thought  you might enjoy a by-product of our warm weather – all the flowers think it’s time to blossom again!
