Back where we came from, reluctant returnees.

What’s all this about Lujos?

We’ve thought for a long time that our wonderful Yunquera Gold olive oil would make really special soap. Anyone who really cares about their skin knows that Castile soaps, which contain a high percentage of olive oil, are the mildest soaps of all, and the best for moisturizing.

Once we started on the path of making our own soap, and then refining the recipe to our own tastes, our enthusiasm grew. We thought there must be other things you could make out of olive oil, and we were right! High quality lotions and potions of all types could be concocted. Next step: why not offer the products we make and use to others? So “Lujos” was born.

“Lujos” means “luxuries” in Spanish, and we believe our products are just that. We take great care to ensure that they are made with natural ingredients, mostly grown on our farm in the mountains of southern Spain. We have a great deal of control over our land, and we use this to ensure that our ingredients are grown in an environment free from pollution, and largely without the use of chemicals. We believe this means that there is little chance of damaging residues contaminating our products.  Ingredients include:

  • Yunquera Gold olive oil – single estate, organically grown olives, naturally cold-pressed. Olive oil is well known for its unique role moisturising and rejuvenating the skin with essential nutrients. It also softens the skin and makes it look young and glowing.
  • Natural herbs – lavender, rosemary, chamomile, calendula and other herbs and wildflowers grow in abundance on our land, so it seemed natural to include them in our products. Each has natural healing and soothing properties that add to the benefit of the product.
  • Essential oils – natural essential oils such as lavender, frankincense and rose are reputed to soothe and prevent wrinkles. I just know they smell lovely!

Our products do not contain additional colorings of any kind, as these may have a reaction with the skin.  If color is desired, naturally derived clays, herbs and plant extracts are used whenever possible.

So that’s just a short introduction to our new baby. Watch this space for more information!
