…the prodigal returns

Back where we came from, reluctant returnees.

Working in the wind…again

You know, 2 days ago we thought we would no longer need a fire in the evenings. The days were warm and sunny, and the evenings pleasant enough that even I had the bathroom window open when showering! And you may remember that we had even started repairing the greenhouse roof, right? Kenton got quite sunburned that day!

Well, that is but a distant memory! For the past 2 days, it has been extremely windy, cloudy and chilly. In short, winter again. We had used up almost all our firewood, so guess what we had to do today? You got it, cut firewood.

Why, oh why, does it always seem to be windy when we cut wood? As if the chain saw didn’t throw up enough sawdust on its own, the wind helps make it worse by driving the sawdust behind the protective glasses and into your eyes.

Pleasant it ain’t! But at least we have firewood again…

  1. I was feeling smug yesterday when I read this, but that feeling is now gone since it’s cloudy and cold here today, when it was beautiful yesterday!
