…the prodigal returns

Back where we came from, reluctant returnees.

Who could have guessed – fire is dangerous!

I have a new look  – not a good look, just a new one.

While putting an armful of small pine branches on the fire, something which I have done hundred of times over the past years, the fire blazed up unexpectedly. Was it a small gust of wind? Fresh leaves blazing up at just the wrong moment? Who knows.

All I do know is that the flames jumped up. I heard a crackling sound. I smelled burned hair. I felt my face go hot.

The damage wasn’t serious, only to my ego. I now have no ‘sideburns’, half of one eyebrow is missing, the fuzz on my face is gone, and my eyelashes are half the length they used to be. Not a good look, and especially bad for my ego when we are off to Malaga for a night out tomorrow night!

Kenton says you have to expect these things as part of being a farmer. Eek.
